Failing to notice that white owns the cube, might also get you to reconsider this statement:

Even though I know it's a double, I don't personally think it's so clear that I wouldn't bother thinking about it :-)

It's always a good idea to think about the score in between games, while setting up the checkers - so your mind is set straight from the beginning of each game.
