I personally don't find there to be the slightest bit of poor sportsmanship in player A's second comment to player B. I don't see any need for the intent to be one of humor. In fact, I don't see anything wrong if the entire motivation of the statement was to draw the cube. As long as the statement was not false. The fact is that part of the motivation here was to be helpful to the opponent.

If I consider doubling, and conclude that it is probably not a double, but say out loud factually as I ponder "hmm, 28 shots and gammon threat" and then send the cube, and my opponent drops, was that poor sportsmanship? Or is that just part of the game - a psychological skill of backgammon?
