Does the version matter?

As far as people being insensitive to their neighbors (e.g. slamming the dice tube onto the table), when someone finds a solution to that it should be broadcast to more than just the backgammon world.
From what I've read/heard/seen, there are three versions of this device, each one an improvement. Version 3 apparently isn't for sale yet (from what I've heard) because Brett wants to sell out version 2. (I believe Rich's, the one he and I used in our match in Madison, is V.2.)
The randomizing 'pins' in version 3 are actually not solid pins at all, but some kind of soft 'thread' wound tightly. When CJC showed me the (prototype?) version 3 at the Chicago Open I recall concluding it was quieter than earlier (although I may have been mentally comparing it to V.1, which I recollect was quite noisy).
When Rich and I played at Madison with V.2, I didn't notice excessive noise, but then the dice rolling was done in sink (obviously) with our games, i.e. between moves, so it's less likely I would be bothered by it. And there was no one sitting next to us or even on the same table.
