In Response To: Ethics vs. Etiquette? in LA (Bill Riles)

My first thought is that I believe Player A did not properly state the rule to player B. Player B rolled a cocked dice and then attempted to double. I believe Player A can prevent player B from doubling if he wants to, but is fully within his rights and rules to allow him to double at that point if Player A decided he would like him to double. So at that point, Player A could have simply dropped the cube.

Now, after informing Player B that he cannot double after attempting to roll (whether that is an accurate statement or not), the second time he provided the information was clearly, in my opinion, not good sportsmanship, as he was encouraging his opponent to do something that was very wrong to do. When a better player gives encouragement to a weaker play to double when the weaker player is too good to double, I say that is very bad form. It would be the same as pointing out that the player can hit (when the hit would be the wrong play).
