"You can't misplay double 4s."
I'm paranoid of getting caught behind White's 3-point prime while I crunch my pretty board. That shoots an arrow in 24/16, 8/4(2). (Wounded, but not dead yet.)
How about half that -- 20/16(2), 8/4(2)? 3-3 next turn still sucks.
20/16(2), 24/16? Solves the 3-3 problem.
Am I putting too much emphasis on one bad roll, particularly worth asking because 3-3 doesn't play great after the move that caters to it? Giving up the 20-point doesn't exactly hand to opp on a silver platter, but if he makes his 5-8 four-prime it's gotta be a big plus for him. However, it might be easier for him to build the back of the prime if we don't make his 16-point first. That would be almost(?) as bad for us.
Something else I'm noticing: with spares on the 12- and 13-points, what roll(s) is/are bad for opp next shake? Then it's our turn again. What are we going to play, or more specifically, which checkers are we going to play with?
I'm going with the move that appears to give us the most flexibility next turn: 20/16(2), 24/16.
Did you hit loose on the 2-point with 24/20, 8/4(2), 6/2*?
