This product contains NICOTINE, deadly poison. I dont care what he does BEFORE the match, during BREAKS, or AFTER the match, but pls dont do it DURING matches..
So you are saying that if someone is wearing a nicotine patch, they should be required to remove it during their match and reapply it only between games or when the match is over?
Caffeine is an addictive stimulant. Yet you were ok with drinking coffee? There are alcohol addicts, yet I presume you'd be ok with someone sipping wine or beer during play?
I detest smoking as much as the next guy, perhaps more so. But lets use common sense here. The prohibition against smoking is so that other people are not forced to breath poisonous vapors and be made physically uncomfortable by the smoke. It is not because people playing might be distracted by their opponent's physical motions with a cigarette, and not because smoking is unhealthy for the smoker. It is not the job of tournament directors to force healthy habits on their attendees.
If indeed such a contraption has been banned by the FDA, I am pleased because I abhor the idea of children having a more socially acceptable way to become nicotine addicts. But where it is legal, if indeed there are no vapors other than water, I see no problem as long as we're not also banning the use of other minor distractables like lollipops, iPods, cameras and low-cut blouses during play. I do support a ban on major distractables like cell phones.
