CHESS international federation as governing body for chess is a a member of International Olympic Movement. Chess is a true sport with full recognition in all countries.

I'm not sure what "full recognition in all countries" means. My understanding is this:

Internationally, there is an International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC officially recognizes "sports" and the international federations representing those sports. About 30 such sports are not in the Olympic programme (not played in the Olympics). Among the officially recognized sports federations representing sports which are not played in the Olympics are the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and the World Bridge Federation (WBF). Others include the international federations for such sports as "orienteering" and "tug of war," but chess and bridge are the only "mind sports" recognized.

However, under Rule 29 of the Olympic Charter, official recognition by the IOC does not obligate national olympic committees (NOCs) to include in their own membership the national federations of recognized sports, unless those sports are included in the Olympic programme. So ... the NOCs of the U.S.A. or Denmark or Slovenia can include their respective national chess and bridge federations if they want to; but they don't have to. For example, AFAIK, the USOC does not include the American bridge and chess federations. In Denmark, there is a Danmarks Idraets-Forbund (DIF) (Denmark's Sports Federation), which represents Danish sports in the Olympic milieu. The Dansk Skak Union and the Dansk Bridge Union have both applied for membership in DIF, but their applications were rejected. As of now only physical sports organizations are DIF members.

Anyway, backgammon's a long way from receiving such recognition, lacking an internation federation and, indeed, national federations except in a handful of countries.
