Not all (mobile) i7's are actual quad cores. The desktop i7's are, though. (As always, read the fine print.)

At the risk of telling people things they already know, there may be other features of a laptop you also want -- in my case size, weight, and battery life. Some "desktop replacement" laptops weigh over 11 lb (5 kg), compared to ~5-6 lb for "all-purpose" laptops and ~3 lb for ultralights (I'm NOT talking about "netbooks", which I doubt would give much joy to someone wanting to do rollouts :). Although faster processors tend to run out the battery faster, many models give you optional battery sizes, and you can always carry multiple batteries for swapping in/out.
