Several years ago when I started playing, I was equally appreciative that expert and world class players would help me learn the game at Kit's GammonOnline and now Stick's BGOnline. I continue to learn from other players. In fact the world class players at this site are still learning from this forum.

However your assumption that these excellent players play for a living is false. No backgammon player can make a living from backgammon. There is insufficient online gambling action. The live tournaments provide the opportunity to play against the best and earn points. The tournaments are exciting, fun events to converse with other backgammon enthusiasts. But nobody can earn a living with live tournament winnings.
