A coach usally act more like a psychologist than a purely theoritical advisor and everybody own mistake are often roots in our own personality. A coach is invaluable to correct our way of thinking and some psychological mistakes we make.
If you can get free coaching thats great, but paying for a great player advices is worth every penny, it speed up learning process and help getting rid of bad habits.
Backgammon is an easy game compare to stuff like: golf, go , tennis, chess, music etc. Its easy in the sense that you can reach a world class level in a couple of years instead of taking you a lifetime. Most activities if you dont start at an early age, youre done dreaming of excellence.
