Backgammon Lessons

When I said it was possible to play World class in a couple of years of play and hard work I was referring to the 4 error rate definition.
I would assume a guy like Federer or Tiger Woods play less than 1 error rate if I compare them to backgammon. I was around top 100 in chess in the peek of my carrer I would assume I was playing maybe around 2 error rate. I am just throwing estimate number there but I can tell you I am much much stronger in chess than in backgammon, but I can still play below 4 error rate in backgammon.
All this discussion started with the statement that it wasent worth paying for lessons. I do aggree that you dont need them to reach world class level according to Extreme. But I think those standars are very low anyways. A player That would really like to reach the top of a 'future ladder' would probably need to take lessons and started younger.
Theory hasent advanced enough to have players play less than 1 error rate. In chess you have to study 8 hours a day if you want to somehow follow simply opening theory that goes beyong move 30 in certain lines. In backgammon we are still rolling out second move.
I guess the future is bright for backgammon and we are already witnessing the appereance of 'super player' like you ( I saw Stick with 2.1) That are pushing and redefining the standard of excellence. Thx you Snowie and Extreme :)
