Backgammon Lessons

The epitome of arrogance is to believe if something is not good for you; it is not good for anybody. I know that a recent ABT tourney winner received lessons before his first tournament victory. Stick has contributed so much to backgammon that he certainly deserves the opportunity to earn money from those who wish to be his students. However, I never understood how lessons were important. My post does not try to argue that lessons are unimportant. I simply wanted others to explain their very real benefit. The responses have enlightened me to their usefulness, even if lessons do not appeal to me. I am not mocking backgammon lessons.
