"Gusto" actually means 'enjoyment' in this context. (There was a beer commercial from decades ago where I first heard the term "go for the gusto".) I think we (English speakers) can trace our word back to Spanish and Italian where it also means 'taste', and they can trace it back to Latin.
Of course we're not going to feel much gusto if opp rolls a five.
