I agree. Lots of people know how to play backgammon and dont even have the slightest clue what the doubling cube is. The key difference between backgammon and poker is that the strategy and skill of backgammon can and is learned and the game thoroughly enjoyed without ever betting or keeping score.
The USBGF National Championship tournament scheduled in parallel with the June ABT event in LA will be a no-entry-fee event. There will be side pools.
