Why isn't Backgammon growing?

I seriously doubt that the people here on BGO are going to be turned off from backgammon and never come back for some heated debate. For the most part I think that BGO readers are the most serious students of the game and understand that this is a discussion forum where opinions will be aired.

But there are certainly obnoxious loudmouths at clubs, and every so often at major events that can sour the atmosphere. And if one of them happens to direct it at you, then potentially more so. That kind of bullshit is most definitely not best for the game.
