I stand by my previous statement, as proven by actual experience. Out of well over 100 conversations with students and educators, only twice has the subject of gambling come up, and it was quickly dispelled.

For someone to point out that I, personally, was attracted by the gambling aspects of the game does not, in any way, refute my point. Yes, I am a gambler and I was initially attracted by the gambling aspects of the game...just as many on this site, and many who play in tournaments for money. But we are in the great minority of backgammon players around the world, and as for the non-backgammon players, most know little or anything about backgammon as a gambling game. It is simply a board game.

Anyone interested in disagreeing with me, or anyone else here, is of course, free to do so...that's part of what this forum is for...to share information and ideas, and when we disagree, to refute them and debate them.

But it is best if people argue the points, not the person; and it is best if people use logic instead of attempts to personally discredit someone as a replacement for addressing the issue.
