How about precision Electronic cubical dice

Imagine this. Some translucent material that can be machined to physical precision dice specs, but display the roll electronically (maybe excite some atoms in the material to make them glow like pips).

Technically one could have electronic dice like this fall within the current rules (3.1/Equipment) as preferred equipment:

"EQUIPMENT. Either player may demand that both use, when available and approved by the Director: (a) PRECISION DICE (over any others) and/or (b) lipped dice cups (over unlipped)."

There is nothing to say that precision dice can't be electronic. The definition of dice and precision dice don't exclude the potential for some electronic component.

As long as the dice can generate random numbers, it is all that matters. The question really is - how many people or events would accept such dice?

It might be a question worth pondering now, because I think this sort of thing is a "When" situation, not an "If".
