Bridge is more complex in that its hard to find one system that will execute and perform well against all other systems, and thats the ultimate goal.
In terms of playing the cards, a few years of regular competitive play, understanding of the methodologies to succeed, and the tournament concepts (i.e. for a hand, say +1 overtrick is likely average, need 2 to get a top), you could become world class. Bidding is a whole other situation.
Backgammon is more about understanding positional variance, and technique, with the dice factor thrown in. You could theoretically be a world class bg player that never wins a single game, however that couldnt theoretically happen in bridge - if you are world class at that, you cant help but outperform all inferior opponents in the long run.
I cannot speak to chess, as I never devoted the time to it in my youth, and thusly know how to play bad chess. I anticipate its complexities are different from either bg or bridge.
