brainstorming -- relational database for reference positions

This sounds like a cool idea. the real question I have is what defines a position as a "reference" positions.
I define it as any one that is good to refer to. But there are many kinds of positions that fit that criteria including ones that come up often; ones that dictate a certain cube action; ones that dictate a certain checker play action; ones that are exactly on the edge of double/no double, or take/no take, or hit/no hit; or volunteer/no volunteer etc. etc. And there are reference positions relative to W/L or gammon percentages, etc.
With all these criteria...that could make almost every position a reference position.
My point? If there were a database of reference positions, i would like to see them not only by score, cube position etc., but also divided by some of the criteria above.
And yes, this would be TREMENDOUSLY helpful if it could be accessed quickly and easily. Instead of a rollout, I would simply bring up the reference position.
The other day we had a disagreement about a 2nd roll play. Off to this site and argument solved.
