On the topic of tricky cases, how about a position where there is a play that clinches the match, but that is the wrong play at a score where (for example) backgammon wins matter? One can certainly imagine situations where someone gets confused and thinks that backgammons matter and fails to make the play that clinches the gammon and the match.
