This month's Chicago Point - Legal Moves Rule

I personally have no problem with those who prefer not to play Legal Moves. And if nothing has been discussed before the match, I will always ask a player who makes an illegal move if they wish to play Legal Moves when it happens. If they say no, that is fine. However I am not someone out to make a martyr of myself. If my opponent does not wish to play Legal Moves, I am going to play by the same rules they are.
But I really take exception to the statement made that agreeing to Legal Moves might be interpreted as collusion between the players. Collusion implies that the players are secretly working together to "fix" the outcome or agree to take actions that are not permitted by the rules or in some way alter the conditions of the contest as set by the director (e.g. changing the match length or playing Nackgammon). Since the goal of both player agreeing to Legal Moves is to win the contest as posted, and there are no illegal actions nor changes to the conditions of contest, it cannot be collusion.
