"Give back" feature

Here's an idea for backgammon clock controls. Current clocks don't have this feature, but all digital clocks are programmed at some level, either by the manufacturer or by the app developer, so adding it may not be too hard.
My idea is "give back" time: One quarter of your unused delay time is put back on your clock at the end of your turn. Example: Suppose you're playing with a 15-second delay and you use only 10 seconds for your move, then 1.25 seconds is added to your reserve time at the end of your turn.
This would do a couple things:
1. Players would have an incentive NOT to use their full delay time every turn. Right now there is no penaty for using the full delay, so some players take their time even with automatic plays to just to be sure they haven't missed anything.
2. If you are getting low on reserve time, you can build a cushon for yourself again by playing your easy moves as quickly as possible.
