I must disagree that Snowie committed any sins. They simply made a wise business decision that there was not a lot of profit from further backgammon software development. It was prudent to try to earn money while they could. Once, free GNU backgammon was an option, Snowie knew that their business future was bleak.

Backgammon players owe much to people like Stick who provide excellent services for free. We also must be grateful to Xavier who has developed a tremendously improved backgammon software. Now, Xavier is obviously a very smart individual. He knows that he will make a small amount of money with XG. But his product is more a result of love for the game than a real business decision. He certainly could use his talents to earn more money for the time that he has dedicated to XG.
