After 7/1, 6/4 (staying even on each of the highest two points) is the instinctive play. I looked at shots next turn. 6/4 leaves two double shots {65} and two single shots {54}. 5/3 leaves four single shots {65, 54, 53, 51}. 6/4 forces us to give up the 6-point while we still own the barpoint {55, 53, 52, 51}. Several of the non-blotting plays after 5/3 look awkward as well, however. Without good evidence against it, I'm going with the play that leaves the least number of hits next turn.
