A little rules question...and socialiability in a local BG club

I would definitely rule in favor of player B. I direct the Durham/Chapel Hill Backgammon club in central North Carolina. To avoid the problem described and similar ones, I specify in the rules section of our home page:

To best prepare our club members for events on the American Backgammon Tour, we play tournament style backgammon:

We comply with U.S. Backgammon Tournament Rules & Procedures. Most notable is that the doubling cube is used. For a summary of these rules, see Summary of Basic Rules of Tournament Play written by Phil Simborg and Bill Davis.
