Following the adage the backgammon is primarily a race, I hit the slotted checker on the bar point since it would definitely slow the other guy; this I thought more important than making the 5 point.

For practice, give yourself 4-2 roll in this position.

Would you make 4pt or hit with 13/7*? Can you spot/name the differences between 3-1 and 4-2?
