Choice of equipment rule

I have both smartphones and genuine (purpose built) clocks. I'm probably a "technonerd" as you describe it.

There's no doubt in my mind, that I would ALWAYS prefer to play using the purpose built clock rather than the smartphone app. For many reasons (including, but not limited to: physical strength, rigidity and sturdiness, quality/availability (I wouldn't bet my life, that a free smartphone app don't crash after 2 hours play because of some memory-error in another program running on the phone etc.), power reserve, readability of display).

I always have my smartphone on me, but I'll not use it for playing tournament matches if a "real" clock is available. However, I'd prefer using the smartphone compared to playing a non-clocked match!
