This position occurred in late 1981 in a big tournament in Las Vegas. Mike Maxakuli played the Blue side against "newcomer" John Karian in the finals of the open (112 player field). This game was annotated in Backgammon Times v2#2 by Bill Robertie. Max made the pure play (which comes in second in the RO) and Robertie agreed, at least mentioning the other two plays I rolled out.
