Bot vs human opponent - why do I suck?

Take/Pass decisions are so easy if you play a bot on the highest level. Basically all you have to consider, is whether the last pair of rolls was jut good or very good, because you know that the bot never misses a double - so unless the last exchange was really moving some EQ, it got to be a take.
The solution to this, and also a couple of the other points Stein and Chuck has mentioned, is to bring down gnubg to 0-ply, and then add a little noise to it's cube decisions.
Also you should vary gnubg play strength every now and then - take a session on 2-ply, one on 0-ply then some with noise added to cubes only - and once in a while add noise to the checkerplay as well.
But remember to keep playing a lot vs. gnubg's best checkerplay setting, because you'll unconsciously "learn" how gnubg plays - and why not learn from the best.
My personal settings are currently: Checkerplay: Supremo, Cube: Advanced.
