Bot vs human opponent - why do I suck?

- I noticed that the size of the board matters: I had been playing for a while on 2 online sites, one of them played in a browser so I could maximize the board, the other one had a fixed size (small) board. After playing over 100 matches on both sites I noticed that my error rate on the small board site was considerably higher than on the other one. Because I couldn't find any other explanation than the screen size, I started to put the resolution to 1024x768 every time I played on that site. And that did the trick: Since then my error rate went down.
- Also the length of the match matters. I play 9pt and 5pt matches against XG and also moneygames. But my error rate in 9pt matches is 0.7 higher than in 5pts (and even over 1pt higher than in moneygames). The extra errors I'm making are the same as you are describing: Silly mistakes, mainly caused by not looking long enough at a decision, or sometimes plain oversights. I think the reason is that it is more difficult to keep your concentration for a whole 9pt match than for just a 5 pointer.
