Against the Bot your decisions may be more calculated to that of online where, your decision making relies on instinct. If this is the case, then your doing more harm than good to your game. Be mindful of establishing an unhealthy habit of playing instinctively when more of a level head is needed.
Thanks for your very good comment!
Is there a way to train oneself to play slower online, and not to rely on instinct when deciding on moves? (at least until my instincts are improved)
Usually, when I say to myself to play slower and think more about positions and various moves - I do it in the first game of the match (or in just first few moves) and after that I return to my habit of playing (too) fast.
Maybe you need to develop more of an intuitive feel to your game. To do this you need to develop a huge variety of reference positions in various positional types. Change to playing 'live' for a while and gather as much intel on how different players play the game differently. Make every efort to ensure your learning is organised and meaningful.Do you think (not only Majestyk, the rest of the posters here too) it might be better for intuitive feel and reference positions to concentrate on one part of the game (opening, middle game, primes, races, bearing in and off, etc) when playing against the bot, rather than playing series of full games as I do now?
