What was played OTB and who wanted which play?

OtB they played 6/2. I really have no idea which player (if either) preferred 3/1(2). They certainly considered it for a long time, so it was on both of their radar screens. I didn't get the impression that they were arguing but rather just attempting to extract maximum equity. Maybe one of them (or their opponents or the local kibitzers) will give details.
