I could just as easily pretend to be shuffling through my music while instead ...

On my iPod the name of each song is a number. When counting pips, I press "next album" for each crossover and "next track" for each pip within a quadrant. The name of the song I reach gives me the pip count.

Then for opponent's pips I use "previous album" and "previous track" to finally arrive at the difference in pip counts. And the music of the resulting song is prechosen appropriately--happy when the count is in my favor, sad when I'm behind. :-)
