Thirty years ago Nack's roommate told me that one Saturday morning he (the roommate) commented that near the end of the last game of Scrabble the night before he thought he had missed a bingo. Nack set up the board and said: "You could have played here, or here." "How do you know that was the state of the board?"

Nack then explained it was because ... And proceeded to reconstruct the entire game from start to finish. Joe was amazed, and asked if he remembered the entire previous game. He did. And the game before that.

Blown away, Joe then joked that "Anyone can remember last night's games. What about last Tuesday's?" "I think so," said Nack, and reconstructed the four games from the previous Tuesday.

Of course Scrabble lends itself to reconstruction because the words are linked.

I repeated this story to Nack some years ago. He didn't remember it.
