Anecdotes from Nordic

I am afraid that Christian's memory of what transpired is very far from the truth. I assume he is talking about the cube we eventually took at 9-4.
Besides being present for the match I have a video of most of it (and of the entire discussion relating to this cube), which I took with my Flip video camera, and which I have reviewed carefully.
There was never any such moment even close to the one that Christian describes, when "everyone wanted to pass." In fact, the only one who wanted to pass this cube was Falafel. He stated right away that he wanted to pass and kept talking about how taking was just what the opponents, who were stuck in the match, would welcome, and kept emphasizing how often we would get gammoned if we took. But no one agreed with him. Wells and Mochy (speaking for himself and Michi, as he explained to me afterward) both stated from the start that it was a take. I confined myself to rebutting some of Falafel's most egregious mistatments, like "If we hit them on the six point we are still nowhere." Ralf Jonas was quiet. Matt also wanted to take but under Falafel's pressure started to feel some doubts. Eventually Mochy (again speaking for himself and Michi) stated that it was a "clear take." Falafel still would not relent. At one point, after this standoff had persisted for a few minutes, Morton Holm made the comment: "It's Falafel against the World," which drew a round of laughter from the crowd. Falafel then even asked me (!) what I would do and I said take as well. Then he finally took. The whole discussion took about six minutes.
