mtuhtan (wish I knew your first name)

It's written next to "mtuhtan", in my email address - Miran (pronounced: me-run, not my-ran)

You and Bob are right, I should have written it differently.
It's not the first time I have trouble with expressing myself.

Is the time and $-cost required to improve these sites the most efficient use of limited resources by (typically wholly volunteer) club organizers/directors/members?

Sorry if this sounds harsh and offends somebody, but I must ask:
I noticed on this forums many times- why do Americans emphasize so much somebody's volunteer work?

For me and my view of the world this isn't and shouldn't be anything strange or rare, so no need to emphasize it this much.

There are so many people in all kinds of different fields who are amateurs - in original meaning of that word:
An amateur (French amateur "lover of", from Old French and ultimately from Latin amatorem nom. amator, "lover") is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit, study, or science, without pay and often without formal training. (source: Wikipedia)
And those volunteers are just backgammon amateurs.

I'm also volunteer/amateur club director and I gave my own money and (lot of) time for many club things. So what? I really love the game and it's not a problem to "give away" some of my money for running the club and spend some time trying to popularize backgammon here.

You pay $200 entry fees for tournaments (in Europe even higher), play on $500+ boards, but there is a problem to give $9.99 once a year for .com domain?
You spend hours playing backgammon online and/or analyzing your matches, but it's a problem to spend one hour (only once) to set new website on some free service?

I repeat once again:

Creating and having good website is not as hard as you think. And it's not even time nor money consuming.
So I don't see any reason why clubs wouldn't upgrade their current 1997-looking websites.
