Problem 1 First WDF problem of the day (actually week) but I see another below. Standard is to bring builders into position. 14/9, 13/11 does that. QF tells me that shadowing the 2-point might be what you have in mind as an option, but that's total speculation. 14/9, 13/11
Problem 2 I don't think this is the time to think about timing, at least not counter-priming. White has already made his full prime. I'm in backgame mode now. But after 25/24 there does appear to be a choice with the 4. 10/6 gets ready to kill sixes. 8/4 starts the next very important point. There is also the question of whether another checker sent back helps or hurts. I don't really know, but I do know I want the 4-point. 25/24, 8/4
Problem 3 I calculate White needs to win 19-20% cubeless in order to take this. White wins mostly by escaping before getting closed out. There are a couple ways to do that: Blue's back checker gets trapped and the board crunches or White just enters and jumps the 5-prime. I don't think those add up to 19%. R+P
Problem 4 I think I've seen this problem so I'm giving the answer I arrived at when I first saw it. Blue hits with 4's and 6's and primes with 5's. But when that works he still has two checkers to extricate. The cup looks half full to me. D+T
Problem 5 WDF#2. OtB 25/21, 14/11. QF says White's lame homeboard allows Blue to play aggressively. 25/22, 14/10? 25/21, 13/10? Anyway, I don't play the QF game so I'll have to await next week's answers. 25/21, 14/11.
