In my opinion it is most unfortunate to promote a tournament on the same weekend, with a very similar name as a long-established tournament, and drawing from some of the same player demographic pools -- it seems it could only be meant to harm the existing tournament.

Most, if not all, American directors of tournaments within the States, to their credit, are very cognizant of scheduling and try to work together for the benefit of the game, rather than to the individual benefit of themselves or their tourney -- and certainly not to the purposeful detriment of other established tournaments and directors.

Too bad certain international directors don't observe the same courtesies and considerations, apparently having a preference to benefit at the expense of others.
