Backgammon websites = ugly

Obviously, better websites are desirable, and some of these are terrible.
But I disagree that the Charlotte BG Club's site is in that category. It's good bare-bones, info only, easily readable, on one screen, no scrolling required. I would have been much more annoyed by it if I'd had to scroll down to read it all, given the screen resolution I use.
As others have said, not everybody has the time or artistic inclination to create a nice site, or the resources to hire someone else, or the opportunity to solicit good help.
Not to beat a dead horse, but to start with a critical tone is less helpful than a more measured approach, accompanied by pointers to resources for creating a good website, tutorials of your own, etc. That is, What Bob Koca Said.
