I play a lot in Turkey and in 10 days time I will be playing on the streets of Hisaronu against all-comers. Part of their 'national' game is to place borne-off checkers onto the bar. OK, so they made a 'mistake', but really, who would be so petty as to want the rules applied in such a black and white manner just to gain an advantage? I go with sportsmanship over gamesmanship every time.

If you need to take advantage of a newcomer to tournament backgammon then shame on you.
