Well said, Michael. I was unaware of the Russian and Turkish traits of casually placing borne off checkers on the bar. However, my Armenian relatives (from eastern Turkey rather than the former Armenian SSR) sometimes when having a speed board and checkers only on the few lowest points would simply shove borne off checkers next to the bar when both sides were bearing off..ie mostly on the 6 pt towards the center of the board.
