On Snooker - "The Miss Rule"

A little :-) I have never played in tournaments myself. I have a 9' pool table on which I occasionally shoot a couple of snooker frames with my boys (age 7 and 10), and I've played it a number of times in "recreational games" on real 12' tables, so I know most of the rules and have an OK feel for the strategies and shot options throughout the game.
My pool is much better though (I play 8, 9 and some straight), and the experience from those games enables me to be able to put smaller breaks together in snooker. If you can break and run out in pool, you can also build breaks in snooker, once you get the hang of it. You have to get used to the lighter balls, the smaller cuetips, the "long-haired" cloth and the rounded corner holes, particular on shots towards the corner pockets from near the cushions!!
