In the final frames when the heat was on, Trump started to crumble a bit. You can't put him down for playing the very same game that got him to the final, but he got carried away on a few occasions. Meanwhile they don't come any cooler than Higgins when he's at his best. And that's usually around crunch-time. He showed in the last two sessions that his ability to build breaks from nothing is second to none. He didn't produce the flashy 100 breaks but he kept punishing Trump whenever he got the chance. He's so calm and collected, chalking up his cue with the most fluid motion while immensely focused. And he never "overplay" his shot. He breaks the pack whne needed with just enough speed to get the balls apart. He produce shot after shot after shot with lowest possible risk and his defensive game was strong.

Trump plays too hard on shots where it's not necessary, he apply way too much english when it's not called for he simply played too flashy in the final stages.

One of the key frames at the end, he got the points needed and was just running the colors off the table, he plays a couple of flashy shots at yellow and green leading him to miss the blue. He got enough points for Higgins needing a snooker, but what happens? Higgins play a perfect snooker, Trump misses and Higgins clear the table. Trump threw it away on the final colors when he was in perfect position by playing flashy shots.

Another example was Higgins needing two snookers (-5 points) when playing on the last red. Trump manages to put it almost in the hole, leaving Higgins no option but to pot it. He pots it with the black, then clean up all the colors and play the perfect snooker on pink behind the black (now only needing one snooker!) Trump miss and Higgins win. I think it was the final frame... and the final shot there, he pots in using a cushion at full power - Trump style.

That said, I was routing for Trump and I think he's the best thing that has happened to snooker in a long while!
