You never told me my GammonLife.com was a dying site you said GammonVillage.com was a dying site. I don't work for GammonVillage anymore so there is nothing to digest.
However, GammonLife has faded somewhat in recent times but only because I was away in Costa Rica for more than three years, helping my wife to take care of personal family matters after her father passed away in 2007.
But I'll be back on the scene soon enough and might even fulfill Neil Kazaross' request to organize a second million dollar event like I did with Stephen Pearson and PartyGammon in 2007: http://www.gammonlife.com/tournaments/07atlantismillion.htm
Look Chiva, if someone wants me to promote their event, and invites me to come and report from their event - what is wrong with that? They pay my expenses, not a fee for my services. The last time I went to Monte Carlo in 2007 I had little sponsoring, the trip cost me more than $7,000 and my wife and I worked 12 to 16 hours a day getting the brackets online and publishing daily news, photos, matches and videos from the scene of three consecutive tournaments over a three-week period. And GammonLife does not charge a subscription fee to view the material. So how did I make money?
The only reason your first event in Paris was a success was because I promoted it for months on GammonVillage well before its date and I made you a separate website to promote it further. And I came there to report from that event. The irony to what you are saying here is, you paid for my plane ticket and hotel room. So what is your point?
I was not alone in helping your first event to be a success. My help brought players from around the world and Eric Guedj and the French Backgammon Association supported it with many players from France.
You were further jump started by your partner Laurent who was brilliant in securing the gig with an acquaintance at the casino.
Some players complained about how you ran the first event, I told them it was your first international and to give you a chance. I did not report a single negative word about that tournament because it would defeat my purpose of trying to be positive in everything I do to promote the game.
However, looking back, I seem to remember you sitting up on the stage where the tournament desk was, puffing on a cigar with a bottle of whisky under the table. I guess that might have had something to do with the complaints from the players.
So this post of yours is just a ruse to avoid answering the issues I brought forward – I thought you said you did not have time to talk to me any further.
Despite everything Chiva, I still like you as a person and admire you in many ways because you have dedicated your life to the game. But I hope you do and say good things about backgammon, people will respect you more for it.
I only got involved in this thread because you started to insult other people I know, such as Marco Fornasir, who does not speak English that well, and accuse him (falsely at times) of doing things you yourself have done, which makes you no better.
But it’s your show so do what you want.
