Ha ha then it wasn't you. I found someone named Niels Christian Munk Christensen playing in a club in Jutland on their team in the 3rd division. What are the odds? :-) Their team homepage listed scores from matches in 2010 and this guy was playing nowhere near his hcp...

I have played Hansen myself in the 2nd division maaany years ago when he was playing for Hillerød. I played Nils Rørbaek from Kokkedal back then (in foursomes), oddly enough he also won the Danish Championship in 1995! ;-) I never played Bjørn and the other guys from Jutland since we never reached 1st division and I didn't play the individual elite tournaments. We were not that good :-)

Then I stopped playing (I moved, got children, got a real job, took an additional masters degree, you know no time for golf and all that). So in the last 12 years I have only played approx. 5 rounds: A Belgian course near spa that I can't recall the name of (shot 78), Fanø (shot 73 with my mothers clubs), a course in Jutland that I can't recall the name of neither the score), Evian Masters (shot 79 with rented beginner's clubs) and Fredensborg (can't recall the score, probably 80+).

Not a single round played the last 3-4 years, but now my sons have started to play (age 7 and 10) so I'm picking up the game as well.

It's funny - just like you describe - it's SO EASY hitting the ball after all these years. But I'm a bit uncertain about the length of my shots (and they are a bit shorter than they used to due to me not being so flexible anymore), and my shortgame is very dubious.

But it's sad to see how the game has evolved to big stick drivers, over-groovy irons, hi tech balls, now being a drive and bomb game. Only a few of the new "elite" players in my club are shotmakers. These kids can't play hi-low-draw-fade and their shortgame is not very imaginative. I got all my equipment stolen, so I'm playing brand new wedges which is even more difficult lengthwise, and I have not gotten used to the big-headed drivers and hybrid clubs! When I quit the game, I would still once in a while play my Titleist Tour persimmon driver (though weighted a bit and mounted with a stiff flex-matched graphite shaft) and the good old balata balls... The players of today can't even get a flyer from the semi since the irons generate more spin with a little grass now! And the wedges they carry - PW, GW, SW and LW - just take the one that fits the lenght of the shot you need to make and throw it up in the air... Ballesteros suggested a limit of 56 degrees loft forcing people to learn their different shortgame shots!

When watching the pros now, it so nice to see players like Tiger and Bubba Watson who actually plays a great variety of shots - they can shape it and see shots that a lot of the other players can't.

We have to talk golf sometime when we meet at a tournament :-)
