My interest in sport is pretty much limited to Curling, F1, and Hockey ;-)

This is a better distinction. I think it is much harder to simulate every rock thrown on an arbitrary piece of unknown ice, but I think a computer could be used to identify a best overall "strategy" for an end. For instance (just one example) when it is better to take out a guard rather than making a come around into the house etc. This is often based on score, whether you need to make 2 points or try for a steal. I think this type of thing could benefit the game. Case in point would be the Chinese teams. If you watch China they have a very good mastery of the mechanics but you will often see them make some very unusual strategy calls with their first 4 stones (I think Chinese women actually play better than their men when it comes to strategy).
