Should we talk of a 4-Byte/8-Byte OS rather than 32-bit/64-bit?

Bandwidth is also expressed in bit. I think historicaly it was important as some protocal could use 7,8 or 9 bits, nowdays it just allow ISP to show bigger number, 12Mb looks better than 1.5MB on an ad.

Same apply to the use of G (Giga) and Gi (Gibi): vendor use G while the user think Gi, but there is a 7% difference
