Question about optional side pool explained

You may enter the side-pools for increments of $500. Everyone that enters the side-pool is in the first side-pool. Those that choose to not put up a second $500 are only eligible to win the first pool and none above it. If you wish to enter the second side-pool for another $500 you may do so and compete for the first and second side-pools. It continues in this way until there is no one wanting to enter another side-pool.

Here is a possible scenario, assuming 32 teams: all 32 teams enter the 1st side pool for $500 and 22 of the 32 teams enter the 2nd side-pool for $500 and 8 teams enter the third side-pool for $500 and 4 teams enter the 4th side-pool for $500 and two teams enter the 5th side-pool for $500. The eligible team that goes the furthest at each level can win that levels side-pool. The two teams that entered all 5 side-pools are eligible to win them all. The ten teams that entered the first side-pool only are only eligible to win it.

This system allows people to better control how much they wish to invest. The side-pools are 100% return.
