Just to clarify, my comment "suggestions are welcomed" was not intended to imply that I felt Patrick was incapable of coming up with a solution, or that he was sitting around twiddling his thumbs waiting for someone here to magically produce the perfect answer. My sincere apologies if it did.
Please, rest assured that I am well aware that Patrick has decades of experience with draw sheets and with successfully running tournemants, and that he has numerous quality contacts who have extensive knowledge in this area.
My question, then, is why would it be "unproductive" to give BGO-ers the opportunity to come up with a winning idea, regardless of the fact that Patrick is undoubtedly working hard on his end to do the same? The Patrick I know is very secure in his knowledge and abilities as a top-notch TD, and is a wide open in terms of considering other peoples' ideas, no matter how strange they might first seem. With all due respect, Rich, I don't think it can hurt to allow a "blue sky" session to take place in a forum that consists of people with all sorts and levels of backgammon experiences... it's not like we'd be slowing him down, or hindering him in any way (and vice versa).
Again, no disrespect intended to Patrick, Rich, or anyone else for that matter.
