National Championships

Bob is dead on here. The value is not within the BG community... it's outside of it. We all know that it's a bit of a joke to call the Monte Carlo tournament the World Championship, but my college buddies don't know that.

A tournament awards things to its winners -- money, hardware... and a title, no matter if it's not particularly deserving, has value.

The value may be just bragging rights to the aforementioned college buddies, but it might also have value in attracting new players. So for free, we might get some new players (and groupies).
